A British woman using The Bahamas Coat of Arms as a logo for her clothing and accessories line has caused quite the controversy on social media.
India Hicks posted several pictures of what appears to be The Bahamas’ Coat of Arms on her social media pages.
The language used under the pictures suggested that Hicks designed the national symbol herself. She even went as far as to sketch the Coat of Arms on a napkin to imply she created it.
Bahamians who took issue with the body of work posted questions on Hicks’ Instagram and Facebook. The pictures have since been removed.
Hicks also released a statement apologising and said the products bearing the image were not for sale and said she loves The Bahamas.
She further claimed “it was all a misunderstanding”.
