Davis questions BPL fire

Davis questions BPL fire
Opposition Leader, Philip Davis.

Leader of the Opposition Philip Davis questioned the circumstances surrounding the fire at Bahamas Power and Light’s (BPL) Clifton Pier plant Friday night, and said, the government should make a full and frank disclosure to the public about the fire.

He said there are credible reports in social media that the fire was due to the negligence of high-level managers at the company who were hired under the Free National Movement (FNM) administration.

The reports, he said, are serious and suggest that it will lead to additional load shedding and expenses for temporary power support solutions.

Davis urged the minister responsible for BPL Desmond Bannister to convey the truth or falsity of the circulating reports and its impact on society’s productive capacity.
