Cutlass wielding robber shot by police

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 29-year-old male from Ross Corner is in the hospital after being shot by police while armed with a cutlass on Wednesday 03rd July 2024.

According to initial reports, shortly before 7:00 a.m., a female was in the area of Marlborough and West Bay Streets when she was approached, robbed of her handbag and assaulted in the face by a male armed with a cutlass.

Responding officers observed the male, who was still armed with the cutlass, in the area of Baillou
Hill Road and Lewis Street, according to police.

Further reports revealed that when one of the officers approached the suspect, the suspect proceeded to attack the officer and was subsequently shot in the leg, authorities said.

The suspect was taken to the hospital via EMS personnel, where he remains in stable condition in police custody.

Police investigations continue.
