‘Crime down’ reports doesn’t sit well with residents

While crime has reportedly decreased by more than 20 per cent over the last year, residents in “high crime” areas say they feel much differently about the statistics.

Residents of Pinewood and Nassau Village told Eyewitness News yesterday they “don’t feel safe” in their homes, despite the low crime statistics recently reported by police.

When asked last week if he felt police dropped the ball when they did not report an incident of a minor being sexually assaulted back in April, Minister of National Security Marvin Dames said, he didn’t feel the police had done anything wrong.

Instead the minister boasted about the force’s success and the new modern methods of transmitting information and communicating with the public.
