NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A group of creatives has banded together to host an open mic night at the Black Box Theatre at the Dundas Center to raise funds for the restoration of the James Catalyn Theatre.

According to Ej Francis, one of the project’s coordinators, “Save The Dundas,” the goal is to raise $250,000 to help restore the theatre that was once the Dundas’ main revenue generator.

The theatre has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic and cannot take on any shows.

Francis said this initiative is important to restore a place that once served as a training ground for many now-thriving creatives who are part of the Orange economy.
