The quick action of police officers led to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect along with the recovery of cash and a firearm.
According to police, shortly after 5:00 p.m. Saturday, a man entered Checkers Cafe on Robinson Road armed with a firearm held an employee at bay and robbed the establishment of cash before fleeing.
A short time later, Mobile Division officers located the suspect and his vehicle in an open lot a short distance away from the robbery.
Eyewitness News was on the scene as police apprehended the man and recovered the stolen cash and gun.
He was taken into custody and is expected to be formally arraigned in court this week.
