NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The New Providence Ecology Park (NPEP) has announced a controlled incineration event to safely destroy and dispose of a 45-foot container of wood furniture infested with Powder Beetles. The controlled burn is scheduled for Thursday, July 25 at 10:30 AM. Residents in the vicinity may observe visible smoke rising from the landfill site during this process.
Safety Measures and Support: The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) Fire Services will be present to ensure the burn is conducted safely, providing necessary manpower and equipment.
Official Oversight: The procedure will be overseen by officers from the Bahamas Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority’s (BAHFSA) Plant Health Unit and the Department of Environmental Health Services (DEHS) to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
