NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In the wake of recent political unrest, Eyewitness News Director and host of Beyond the Headlines, veteran journalist Clint Watson will depart the capital today for Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Watson will spend the next three days immersed in that country’s way of life, while delivering in-depth and hard-hitting reports for Eyewitness News and Beyond the Headlines beginning tonight, Thursday and Friday evening.
Watson is expected to highlight Haiti’s ongoing civil unrest, economic oppression, poverty, alleged government corruption, commerce, business opportunities and the issues that lead to illegal migration – a problem that has been plaguing The Bahamas for decades.
Watson’s visit to Haiti is being sponsored by Bahamasair and Cash & Go.
Earlier this month, due to political unrest and violence in Port-au-Prince, The Bahamas Government temporarily ceased all deportations to that impoverished country.
The Bahamas Embassy in Port-au-Prince also closed temporarily and there was a recall of all diplomatic and consular staff.
