NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute’s (BAMSI) Climate Smart Advocacy Community Group will hold a beach clean-up campaign at Montague Beach this Saturday.
The group will assemble at Fort Montague for the event that will run from 7am to 9am.
Climate enthusiasts, concerned citizens, residents of the area, high-school students needing community service credits, and all other interested persons are invited to attend.
The advocacy group was created in 2022 and meets virtually every month with membership open for anyone to join for free.
According to a press statement, the purpose of the community advocacy initiative is to: “Bring awareness, to get the conversation about the reality of
Climate Change and its impacts on us locally, nationally, regionally, and globally; act as our community outreach effort; educate; create engagement and involvement at a grass-roots level; highlight and attract interest in BAMSI Degree and Certificate course offerings, and to secure grants and scholarships for this purpose; monitor and study these impacts and compile concrete data on its effects on our way of life, and make recommendations based on findings.”
The statement continued: “The general public is invited to take advantage of this Climate Justice Advocacy Initiative to help save our planet and create a better living experience for our nation.”
