CBS Bahamas above 2024 sales pace as online shopping helps consumers beat holiday traffic

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — CBS Bahamas is tracking above its 2024 sales pace, supported in part by increased use of its e-commerce platform as consumers turn to online shopping to beat traffic and save time during the busy Christmas period.

Brent Burrows Jr., CBS Bahamas’ vice president of retail and sales, said digital sales currently account for a notable portion of the company’s day-to-day activity, particularly as holiday shopping intensifies.

“About 15–20 percent of our day-to-day sales are coming through the website right now. We’re seeing lots of use from those looking to beat traffic, save time, etc… We’re still offering $5 island-wide delivery — regardless of how much or how little you may order — so lots of customers are taking advantage of that,” Burrows said.

The shift highlights changing consumer behavior during peak retail periods, with online ordering providing a convenient alternative to in-store shopping as traffic congestion increases. The company’s flat-rate island-wide delivery has further supported the uptake in digital orders.

Burrows said overall performance has been encouraging and that the company expects the final days before Christmas to be especially active.

“Sales are solid so far though, we are pleased. We are above pace for 2024 and we anticipate this last week will be quite busy, especially the weekend of course,” he added.
