CARNIVAL 2018 recap: Bahamas Carnival incident free

The 2018 Bahamas Carnival went on incident free, According to Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) media liason Shanta Knowles.

Although this year’s event was privatized, Knowles said, the police force was still very involved with keeping everything in order.

The Bahamas Carnival weekend included three concerts and the Road Fever street parade.

“I can say that we had zero incidents reported during the Bahamas Carnival, including the concerts and the road march,” Knowles said.

“Although it was a private function, we still policed it very similar to the way that we police Junkanoo, posting officers in strategic spots. We paid special attention to the road march, seeing that it encompassed so many moving parts, we really wanted to ensure that all the locals and tourist that came out to have a good time were safe, and they were.

“In regards to the concerts, they were basically private functions with their own security detail. However, we were able to work in harmony with those private securities to ensure that these events went off without incident. It was refreshing and good to see that there are still a lot of citizens out there willing to work with the police and make our jobs just a bit easier.”

This year’s Bahamas Carnival was presented by Polantra Media. BTC supported the event once again, coming on board as title sponsor. Kalik also served as a major sponsor of the event.
