Calls for increased engagement in source markets

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas continues to uphold its reputation as a respected financial services jurisdiction, with calls for increased engagement in its source markets, according to Economic Affairs Senator Minister Michael Halkitis.

Speaking in the Senate, Halkitis emphasized, “The Attorney General and I recently represented The Bahamas in some of our key markets. We have traveled alongside regulators from the Insurance Commission, Central Bank, and Securities Commission to educate service providers, lawyers, corporate service providers, and bankers in other jurisdictions about the advantages of The Bahamas. We also sought feedback on their clients’ needs to enhance our offerings.”

He added, “Continuous engagement is crucial. Feedback often emphasizes the need for more active presence; our competitors maintain constant marketing efforts. From our recent interactions, it’s clear that The Bahamas remains highly esteemed in financial services, and Bahamian professionals are respected by our international partners.”

Halkitis underscored the importance of ongoing support for the country’s financial services sector, a major pillar of the Bahamian economy.

“We have our work cut out for us. It’s vital to sustain our efforts to bolster the industry,” Halkitis concluded.
