Cabinet Office: Stores must close Good Friday but can open Easter Monday

A statement released on Monday from the Cabinet Office advised the general public that Friday, April 19, 2019 is Good Friday and stores are to be kept closed in accordance with Section 8 (2) (b) of the Public Holiday Act.

Cabinet said Monday, April 22, 2019 will be observed as Easter Monday and as a result, stores may open for business on Easter Monday during regular business hours.

“Employers are to note, however, that employees who are normally not required to work on holidays, must be paid wages in accordance with section 10 (a) of the Employment Act,” the Cabinet statement read.
