Buddy traded to the Golden State Warriors

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Bahamian sharpshooter Buddy Hield has officially been traded to the Golden State Warriors, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The move has been confirmed after days of trade rumors and speculation, landing Hield on the same team as Stephen Curry.

Warriors are sending a 2031 Dallas second-round pick to Philadelphia to complete sign-and-trade for Hield,” Charania posted on his ‘X’ account, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Preliminary details say that Hield’s contract will be for two years and $21 million. Hield gets $18M in the first two years, a $3M partial guarantee in 3rd year, and a player option on the non-guaranteed 4th year.

Hield spent the 2023-2024 campaign on the Philadelphia 76ers in a limited role, with some fans calling all season for the Bahamian baller to be given more playing time on the court. The 76ers had a disappointing end to the most recent NBA season, falling to the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs in six games.

Now, Hield will have the chance to join one of the NBA’s premier franchises that last won a championship just two seasons ago.

Hield’s arrival to the Bay Area means the Warriors will have a new-look shooting duo next season after long-time Warrior Klay Thompson opted to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. Both Hield and Curry are leaders for most 3-pointers made over the last five NBA seasons.
