Bahamian boxer Lester Brown has been working feverishly over the past few weeks preparing for his upcoming lightweight bout.
Brown, who recently signed with Roy Jones’ promotional company, has his first fight under Jones’ banner on April 28 in Pensacola, Florida. Brown will find out who his opponent will be in the coming days, seeing that his original opponent was forced to drop out due to injury.
Although he’s unsure of his opponent, Brown says he’s going into the fight with the same mindset.
“My original opponent was forced to pull out, now Roy is working together to put on another fight,” Brown said.
“We’ve been training hard. I’m in shape right now. Honestly I could fight right now. So we’ve been on a bit of a cruise, just shaving off a few more pounds before the fight.”
Brown signed with Jones’ company in January. The contract is a multi year deal that guarantees at least four fight each year. According to Brown, his next fight is scheduled to take place in Tampa, Florida in June.
“I’m really excited for my first fight under Roy Jones,” he added.
“Right now I’m just patiently anticipating the big day. Really ready to go there win, celebrate and then do it all again.
“I have to add that a lot of this wouldn’t be possible without my sponsors Think Simple. They’ve supported for a very long time and have been in my corner the entire time.”
Brown currently has 3-0 win/loss record but hasn’t been as active as he’d like to be, due to the fact that he’s gone so long without a promoter. Now, with Jones in his corner, he’s ready to take the next step.
Brown last fought on December 16, 2016, where he won a split decision over Haitian Pierre Ernabe at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium.
