Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) is set to introduce a new system that will allow customers to control, monitor and pay for their own electricity.

The metering will allow the customer to control their usage and keep track of how much they want to spend on electricity.

BPL CEO Whitney Heastie said the new metering system will be offered in New Providence first, before being phased into the Family Islands.

However, he refused to comment on the system’s cost and roll out date.
