BDOC investigating alleged escape of prisoner for several hours on Saturday

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Officers at The Bahamas Department of Corrections are presently investigating the alleged escape of an inmate which reportedly took place on Saturday, January 12.

On Monday, sources told Eyewitness News Online that the inmate who was serving time in the Medium Security Unit had allegedly escaped for several hours.

It was further alleged that upon his return, he was found with suspected drugs and cell phones.

Acting Chief of Prisons Charles Murphy did not give any details of the allegations but confirmed yesterday that an active investigation on this matter is underway.
