Circle K Club BAMSI Sees Service as its Mission

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Circle K International (CKI) Club of BAMSI is on a mission to provide needed services to the communities of North Andros that will impact families, change lives, and improve the surrounding environment.

After the Club received a generous donation of four, five gallons of paint, and noticing that after Hurricane Mathew in 2016 some homes in the community still required some tender loving care, the students began their initial research.

They scouted the settlements of Mastic Point, Nichols Town and Lowe Sound. In Mastic Point, nearby the college campus, they discovered two tiny houses that had never been painted.  These tiny houses were the homes of two elderly persons, whose old houses were severely damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Consequently, they had to seek temporary housing. Temporary wooden structures were donated by the Rotary and they are residing in these residences to date.

According to BAMSI CKI President Ashley Albury, “the openness of the selected residents coupled with the participation of volunteers was a joy to witness”. BAMSI’s CKI Club displayed teamwork, commitment, and overall talent. Their efforts were appreciated in the words and smiles of the homeowners and community onlookers alike. The paintwork and landscaping provided was not only an act of service, but a testament to the club’s role in “making the world better one project at a time.”

The CKI Club of BAMSI was charted on September 24th, 2015 by the Kiwanis Clubs of Fort Montagu and Fox Hill East Nassau.  It is built on the principles of service, leadership, and friendship.  Making the world a better place is the primary focus of this organization. For the members of CKI it was important not only for them to live within the community of North Andros but also to make a significant impact on the residents of the island.  This semester the club dedicated their efforts to canvasing the community to determine how best this could happen.

The CKI Club of BAMSI endeavors to continue a trend of service to communities in all aspects and looks forward with excitement to the many more ways they can make an impact in the Andros community.
