Bahamian and Sons Promotions looking to rejuvenate local boxing

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Through his promotional company “Bahamian and Sons”, heavyweight boxer Sherman “The Tank” Williams (41-15-2) is looking to raise the sport’s profile locally, beginning with a Nassau fight card next month.

Williams, who launched the company with his wife Kimberly Williams, will headline the card against Orlando Antonia ‘Knockout’ Farias, of Argentina, for the vacant Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) Inter-Continental heavyweight title.

Several local fighters will also be featured on the card, including upcoming heavyweight prospect Amron Sands (8-0).

“This is the first step we’re taking towards rejuvenating the sport of boxing locally,” Williams said.

“I know a lot of these fighters personally. And I know that they have the talent to be productive in the sport, there’s just a lack of opportunity. At one point, boxing was one of the most popular sports in the country. We are moving towards bringing it back to the forefront and providing our fighters with fair opportunities, which eliminates the chances of them losing unfair decisions on foreign soil.”

Several of the boxers on the card are from the Strikers Boxing Club, including Israel Johnson, DeAngelo Swaby, Chino Sherman and Kendrick Stewart, who are all expected to make their pro debut.

Tyrone Oliver will also be fighting in his second pro fight.
