NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A harrowing situation reportedly unfolded for passengers on a Bahamasair flight scheduled to depart Crooked Island on Wednesday, leaving passengers on edge and the airline grounded.
The incident transpired as the airline attempted to depart Crooked Island on Wednesday. One eyewitness, speaking under the condition of anonymity, told Eyewitness News: “They made two attempts to take off, and the plane wouldn’t lift. It could have been a real disaster. It could have been a really sad day. The plane is now grounded. Someone screamed that fire was coming from the engine. It was only by the grace of God that it didn’t escalate into a terrible situation.”
Bahamas Air Managing Director Tracy Cooper told Eyewitness News: “The right engine experienced an engine surge. Our technical team will be dispatched to Crooked Island to assess the aircraft for necessary repairs.”
