Bahamas Union of Teachers challenges govt to adjust curriculum focus

play-sharp-fill

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamas Union of Teachers President Belinda Wilson calls on education officials to shift their primary focus from national examinations to a more intentional approach to incorporate technical and vocational studies into public school curriculum.

Wilson claims that a majority of students within the public school sector tend to lean more towards blue-collar jobs, therefore she has challenged the Ministry of Education to introduce and enhance programmes available for them to learn various trades.

Her comments come days after National Examination results were released, there was a slight increase in A-C grades recorded by students during the last examination period.
