Bahamas Red Cross elects new executive committee in 39th Central Council and AGM

NASSAU, BAHAMAS —The Bahamas Red Cross Society announced a fresh wind of governance yesterday as members and group leaders elected new executive leadership for the upcoming two-year term during the 39th biannual Central Council and Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Thursday, June 24 and Friday, July 25, 2021.

Returning members of the executive committee included its president, Terez Curry, and Vincent Wallace-Whitfield, who serves as legal counsel.

Edison Sumner, Dr Erecia Hepburn, Mark Moxey and Lashea Douglas were elected as first vice president, second vice president, treasurer and youth representative respectively.

Curry indicated that while she was excited for the way forward in chartering new realities, she was extremely grateful for the immense service and support provided by departing members of the executive committee, including past president Brendan Watson and current treasurer Dayan Bourne.

Government ministries represented on the committee have now grown to include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness, Management and Reconstruction.
