Bahamas finishes second in CCCAN Water Polo qualifying tournament

The Bahamas Under-16 water polo team yesterday finished second overall at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation (CCCAN) qualifying tournament in El Salvador.

The Bahamas fell 8-7 to Puerto Rico in the tournament’s gold medal game. The match came down to the closing seconds, but Puerto Rico managed to chip in a shot with time winding down.

Gabriel Sastre led The Bahamas with three points, Nicholas Wallace-Whitfield had two and Damian Gomez and Gabriel Encinar added one goal each.

Diego Hernandez led the way for Puerto Rico with three goals and five other players added one goal each.

In the bronze medal game, Costa Rica knocked off Trinidad and Tobago 12-11.

The Bahamas finished the tournament with a 3-2 record overall.
