NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) has been shortlisted for a prestigious 2020 best international financial centre award.

WealthBriefing has announced its shortlist for the Wealth Briefing Europe Awards, which honour the top-class performers in the global financial services industry.

BFSB’s CEO and Executive Director Tanya McCartney said: “We are honoured to have been shortlisted. It is a recognition of the hard work that goes into telling our story as an international financial services centre and our efforts to change the narrative on The Bahamas.

“It is also a testament to the  strong public – private sector partnership that exists in The Bahamas for the promotion of financial services.”

McCartney said: “It reflects the combined contributions and support of our member firms, The Bahamas Government, regulators and professional bodies in the promotion of The Bahamas as the Clear Choice for financial services.”

The European sector has been tested as never before by the pandemic and the suppression methods governments have taken.

Strong wealth management advice and guidance has never been more important. Digital technology is now a must-have as we have seen with private bankers, lawyers, accountants, technologists and family office figures working from home.

The value-add of great wealth management is very clear. This awards programme salutes the kind of people and organisations who have really made a difference to clients.

The 2020 WealthBriefing European Awards programme was focused around three main category groupings: experts (individuals and teams); products and services for wealth managers and clients; and institutions of all sizes and types in the European market.

Independence, integrity and genuine insight are the watchwords of the judging process with the judging panels made up of some of the industry’s top trusted advisors and bankers.

Coinciding with the announcement of the shortlist was the publication of WealthBriefing’s “Acclaim” magazine which featured those organisations shortlisted for awards and give them a chance to say why they have been able to reach this stage.

The Bahamas feature focused on the resilience of the financial services sector in the country.

The winner will be announced in London, U.K on October 14.
