Bahamas falls 5-1 in Beach Soccer Challenge opener

The country’s men’s national beach soccer team opened up the 2018 Bahamas Beach Soccer Challenge with a 5-1 loss to Mexicoon Friday night.

The game was the first of three matches Team Bahamas plays at the Bahamas Football Association’s (BFA) Beach Soccer Facility this weekend.

Benjamin Mosco delivered on a pair of goals in the game, while Angel Rodriguez, Jair German and Erik Samano added one each.

Lesly St. Fleur scored The Bahamas’ only goal.

In the opening game of the tournament, Spain edged the United States 4-3. Llorenc Gomez netted a hat trick in the win.

The Bahamas will have a chance to avenge the loss today against Spain. That match is set for 7:15 p.m., while Mexico will go against the United States (U.S.) in the opener at 6:00 p.m.

The Bahamas closes out its time at the tournament with a match against the U.S. on Sunday, also at 7:15 p.m.
