Bahamas edges Dominican Republic 83-82

Behind 19 points each from Buddy Hield and Travis Munnings, The Bahamas yesterday picked up an 83-82 win over the Dominican Republic, as the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament continued in Puerto Rico.

Michael Carey also added 15 points in the win. Shaquille Cleare had 11 and Kadeem Coleby chipped in with 10.

Victor Liz led the way for the Dominican Republic with 23 points on 8-18 shooting from the field.

Despite picking up the win against the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas was eliminated from the FIBA World Cup race on Thursday, after it fell 84-74 to the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Bahamas had to win that game by 10 points or more to advance.

The Bahamas finished 1-5 overall over the course of three qualification windows, dating back to last November. The next qualifying window begins in September.
