Arrested man found dead in Central Police Station

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A 60-year-old man was found dead in a cell at the Central Police Station after he was arrested for a stealing matter over the weekend.

According to police, the man was arrested on Saturday, January 21, and was found unresponsive shortly during a routine check of the cellblocks shortly after 7.30am on Sunday.

The statement read: “As a result, EMS was contacted and responded to render assistance. However, after examining the body there were no signs of life detected. An autopsy will be performed to determine his exact cause of death.”

His Majesty’s Coroner is investigating the man’s sudden death, police said.
