Gun violence continues New Providence

A man is fighting for his life in hospital following an overnight shooting incident early Wednesday morning.

Police said they responded to a shooting that took place shortly after midnight in the area of Bahama Avenue and Market Street.

According to reports, officers discovered a man with gunshot wounds about the body when they arrived on the scene.

Paramedics were called to the scene and transferred the male to the hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police are also investigating a stabbing incident yesterday that has left another man in serious condition.

Police reports said it was shortly after 6:00 p.m. at a service station on Carmichael Road, when two men got into a squabble, which resulted in one of the men being stabbed in the neck.

The victim was transported to hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

In other crime news, police are seeking the help of the public in finding the suspects responsible for two separate armed robberies on Wednesday.

According to police, it was shortly after 12:30 a.m. when a female pulled into the driveway of her Garden Hills home, when two armed men robbed her of a 2015 Kia Sportage Jeep #AG9890.

The vehicle was later found on Miami Street.

About an hour later, police said a man was standing on the outside of a bar on Bay Street and Victoria Avenue when he was approached by three men, one of which was armed with a firearm.

The victim, police said, was robbed of his money and jewelry before the suspects escaped in a 2002 Suburban Jeep registration #TN353.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.
