Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Michael Pintard brought the official remarks at the opening of the 34th Annual Frank “Pancho” Rahming Primary School Track and Field Championship on Wednesday at the original Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium.
Among those taking part in the opening for the national meet were Director of Sports Timothy Munnings, Meet director Mike Sands, Bahamas Association of Certified Officials (BACO) member Renee Davis, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Band and various students.
But the real crowd pleaser was little David Cox of Eva Hilton Primary School, who gave an exciting performance of Bahamian music, which prompted an encore from those in attendance.
More than 1,200 athletes from about 59 primary schools throughout The Bahamas are expected to compete in the meet until Friday, May 25. (BIS Photos/Eric Rose)
