FREEPORT, BAHAMAS — Port Lucaya Marketplace has an exciting new Amoro jewelry store that owner Paula Robinson says “bravely opened” in spite of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Robinson is a lifetime jewelry professional with over 36 years’ experience in the retail business, 15 of which she spent managing John Bull, Port Lucaya.
But when John Bull closed after Hurricane Dorian, Robinson decided to follow her dream and open her own store.
She asked her friend Stephen Crane to help her design and merchandise her dream store and the now-retired Crane readily agreed to help. She found a great corner location behind Oasis, Port Lucaya, and started to design and build out the store.
It was originally planned to open in April 2020 but COVID-19 restrictions pushed back the opening until December 2020.
Robinson’s new Amoro store is described as bright and welcoming — tastefully decorated in “earth colors” with walls featuring stunning Bahamas beach and water images taken by professional photographer Christine Matthai.
The Bahamian images help showcase the Amoro Bahama-designed jewelry collection exclusively available in Freeport at Amoro Port Lucaya and online at Amoro.com.
Every piece of Amoro jewelry was designed in The Bahamas and created by expert international craftsmen using fine-quality precious stones and metals.
Amoro’s name is a combination of the Italian words for “love” and “gold” and each design celebrates love by including heart designs or featuring heart-shaped prongs that hold important stones and even a diamond-set heart on the side of ring shanks called a “stolen kiss” — all perfect Valentine’s Day gifts.
