AML Foods set to expand to Eleuthera with new grocery store acquisition

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – BISX-listed AML Foods Limited has announced an expansion of its grocery retail footprint to Eleuthera by purchasing Burrows One Stop Grocery Store in Governor’s Harbour.

The sale is expected to be completed by the end of the year, at which point the store will close for two months for a complete renovation.

Gavin Watchorn, President & CEO of AML, shared that the newly remodeled store will follow the Solomon’s neighborhood concept and will reopen as Eleuthera Markets.

“For over three decades, Solomon’s has been satisfying, delighting, and nourishing customers. We look forward to expanding our operations to Eleuthera and providing the community with a full shopping experience, similar to what we’ve delivered to Exuma residents through Exuma Markets.”

In 2021, AML Foods Limited acquired Exuma Markets Limited in Georgetown, Exuma, for $1.75 million, committing an additional $300,000 for renovations.

Regarding the Eleuthera development, Watchorn stated: “When the store reopens in March, customers can expect a fully remodeled store featuring expanded grocery, chilled, frozen, meat, and fresh produce sections, with deliveries arriving on the island twice a week. We will also introduce the My Solomon’s Smart Rewards Loyalty Program.”

He added, “We plan to visit the island early in the new year and host a community event to share our plans and engage with residents. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to serve the island of Eleuthera and are committed to delivering the best shopping experiences, fresh products, and great service. We would like to thank the Burrows family for entrusting their business to AML; we will build on their legacy within the Governor’s Harbour and Eleuthera communities.”

According to Watchorn, residents and visitors to Eleuthera have consistently supported AML and its brands, often buying groceries in New Providence and shipping them to the island. “With the opening of Eleuthera Markets, we look forward to providing even greater convenience and value to the people of Eleuthera while expressing our appreciation for their support over the years.”

The CEO also emphasized AML’s commitment to supporting the communities it operates in, and the company plans to participate in local initiatives throughout the island.
