Alternative Learning Institute donates to Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The month of October was a busy one for the students of Alternative Learning Institute, as they partnered with the Sister Sister organization to bring awareness to breast cancer, and also to help raise much-needed funds through various activities.

The first of the many activities was its “Pink Day Affair” held on October 11. Decked in headbands, wristbands, masks, keychains, socks and all other pink paraphilia, the students accessorized their uniforms to bring much-needed awareness as they raised funds for the Sister Sister program during these most difficult times.

This was then followed by a “fun day” held just before mid-term that was a grand event. Parents, students and staff all joined forces to make the day a grand success with the purchase of T-shirts and the sale of a variety of food, along with the students’ participation in the many fun-filled activities.

Alternative Learning Institute was able to raise $3,210, all to be donated to the Sister Sister organization.

Alternative Learning Institute holds events and presents a donation to Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group in October 2021 for breast cancer awareness.

According to school Principal Dr Deborah Campbell, this donation represents the students’ commitment to helping those in need and teaches them the importance of giving back.

Campbell went on to say that she hopes this will go a long way in helping to meet the needs of the organization, as so many Bahamian women and men are in desperate need of the care and the assistance that Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group provides.

“Although much attention has been given to the fight against COVID-19, the Sister Sister organization is still in need of our help,” she said.

The student body, along with the staff, is indeed so pleased that it was able to help in such a tangible way and look forward to making this donation to the organization.
