In an effort to reduce the country’s billion-dollar food bill, telecoms provider ALIV has sponsored the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources backyard Farming Bahamas Initiative.
The announcement came Monday at a press conference held at the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) centre.
Chief ALIV Officer Damien Blackburn said that through this new partnership, the backyard farming initiative – which has been around for more than a decade – will now be brought to Bahamians in a bigger way.
ALIV will not only sponsor this project, the company has also announced that it will put in place a savings group for those who participate in the programme.
