Trinity Christian Schools appoints Gillian Thompson as new principal

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Board of Directors of Trinity Christian Schools has announced the appointment of Gillian Thompson as the new principal for Trinity Christian Schools.

An educator for more than 30 years, Thompson began her teaching career at St Anne’s School before moving to her alma mater, Queen’s College, where she spent 24 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Early and Elementary Education. She has served in the capacity of classroom teacher, grade-level leader, curriculum coordinator and as a part of the leadership team of Foundation Years, Queen’s College.

Thompson considers herself a lifelong learner with a passion for cultivating a thriving school community. She enjoys facilitating professional growth through collaboration and sharing evolving educational practices. She has engaged in ongoing professional learning to improve her craft, most recently completing additional graduate-level studies in Educational Leadership.

She believes the wholistic development of students is paramount for their success in the 21st Century. Over the years, she has worked to provide a nurturing learning environment to support students’ academic, social and spiritual growth towards lifelong success. Most recently, she played an integral role in implementing protocols and policies designed to foster comprehensive, robust learning amidst the pandemic.

Thompson said she was honored to assume the leadership of Trinity Christian Schools, following the outstanding work of retiring Principal Veronica Micklewhite. Having served under Micklewhite’s exemplary leadership as part of Holy Trinity’s Sunday School team, Thompson became well-acquainted with Micklewhite’s love for children and commitment to their spiritual formation.

Thompson said: “Mrs Micklewhite has cultivated a community of excellence at Trinity Christian Schools with a rich legacy guided by the schools’ motto: ‘Loving and Learning as We Live for Jesus.’”

Thompson is the wife of Dion K Thompson and together they are the parents of three adult children — Joshua, Hannah and Matthew.
