New SUV offered for customers who “tap” new Scotia MasterCard Debit
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Scotiabank customers who “tap” their new Scotia MasterCard debit card for purchases by the end of the summer could find themselves driving away a brand new a 2021 Toyota RAV4 sports utility vehicle ( SUV).
The offer comes as the bank continues to enable and incentivize customers to access greater security and convenience through the new cards that have been distributed to customers in The Bahamas.
Scotiabank Bahamas Director of Retail Banking Na-amah Barker said: “The new ‘chip and pin’ debit card offers increased safety and convenience for our customers.”
The added security benefit, Barker said, comes through enhanced authentication technology that is utilized for the card verification process. This allows for the dynamic storage of data, making it very difficult for fraudsters to compromise the card.
The bank is also promoting the use of another exciting feature that is slowly gaining popularity locally. The new “Tap to Pay” function allows purchases of up to $50 BSD without handing over the card to a cashier at supporting merchants.
Barker notes this option is a “secure, safe and convenient, especially in light of the ongoing health concerns due to COVID-19”.
Once the card is used at participating merchants during the promotion period, cardholders will be entered into a sweepstakes for the SUV grand prize. All “tapped” transactions, regardless of value, that are made up to August 31, 2021 will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize.
“Entering couldn’t be simpler. Through this promotion, we are educating our customers about all the benefits that come along with the new Scotia MasterCard debit and encouraging them to access the ‘power’ of the new cards as they go about their daily routines,” Barker said.
The winner of the SUV will be announced on October 5.
