NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Kiwanis Clubs of The Bahamas made history this weekend by donating gift baskets containing infant supplies to the patients at several birthing centers in the country, including Doctor’s Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) on New Providence and Rand Memorial Hospital on Grand Bahama.
Kiwanis Clubs pooled their resources to purchase the supplies to go along with donations that were received from several corporate sponsors, including Lowe’s Wholesale, Sandy’s, Multi Discount, Kelly’s and OMAK Enterprises.
The presentations in Nassau were done by Lt Governor Dominic A Bain in conjunction with some club presidents and other Kiwanis members. The presentation at Rand Memorial Hospital was done jointly by the three presidents of local Kiwanis Clubs on Grand Bahama, and other Kiwanis members.
All of the institutions were elated to receive the baskets for their patients; however, the staff at Doctor’s Hospital were overjoyed, since this was the first time a service organization implemented a project for patients at that institution.
In total, the Kiwanis Clubs of Bahamas presented 60 baskets between the three institutions to bring some Mother’s Day cheer while providing supplies for the new moms and their children.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time; and its motto is “Serving the Children of the World”.
