Stabbing claims life of 16-year-old boy, two expected to be charged today

A teenage boy is dead and two other men are fighting for their lives in hospital after a weekend of violence in the capital and Grand Bahama.

Police say the 16-year-old teen died after he was stabbed multiple times during an agreement late Friday night in Nassau Village.

Eyewitness News understands that a 20 year-old man is expected to be charged with the murder in the Magistrates Court at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The accused is expected to be arraigned alongside an adult female, who is expected to face charges of accessory to murder after the fact.

The homicide put the country’s murder count to 33 for the year, according to Eyewitness News records.

Police said it was shortly after 8:00 p.m., when the teen was involved in an altercation with a group of men, which resulted in him being stabbed multiple times about the body.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The initial crime report stated that a 20-year-old Christoff Street and Farrington Road man was assisting police in the investigation.

Police issued a strong appeal to young people to “look for positive ways of settling arguments and disagreements without resorting to violence.”

The stabbing death comes two days after police reported a man died in hospital after he was shot a week earlier.

SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Meanwhile police are also investigating a shooting incident that left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

Police said the victim was standing in front of his home at Old Cedar Street, Yellow Elder Gardens on Friday, when he was approached by a man – armed with a firearm, who shot him before running away. The victim was taken to hospital by the ambulance where is listed in serious condition.

In the final shooting incident, police on Grand Bahama are on the hunt for the suspect in a shooting incident that left one man in serious condition in hospital.

According to reports, shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, police received information that shots were heard in the Hearne Lane area. When officers arrived on the scene, they said they discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the street. He was taken to hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

ARMED ROBBERY

Police are also asking for your help in solving an armed robbery.

The incident took place shortly after 5:00 p.m.. Police say the victim was standing outside his home in Jubliee Gardens when he was approached by a male armed with a handgun who robbed him of cash and other items before getting in a gold colored vehicle, with other persons and speeding off.
