NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Officers and marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), along with members of the Welfare Department, recently made financial contributions to three of their comrades on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 to assist with medical needs.
In keeping with the commander defence force’s intent as it pertains to the well-being of RBDF personnel, financial contributions were presented to Retired Force Chief Petty Officer Dayne Wilson and Retired Leading Seaman Carlton McKenzie at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR.
Both men have given their country more than 35 years of combined services, and are now faced with health challenges.
Presenting the cheques was Acting Captain Coral Harbour Shawn Adderley, accompanied by Senior Lieutenant Elvis Bullard, RBDF Welfare and Reservist Unit officer, along with Warrant Officer of the RBDF Veterans Affair Office Force Chief Petty Officer Prescola Fowler.
Accompanied by their spouses, both men expressed their gratitude to the commander defence force and the organization for the generous donation that will go a long way in their recovery efforts. They also thanked those who have been of great support during their challenging times.
Adderley and his team also showed their support by visiting Petty Officer Tia Rolle, who is currently at home recovering from an illness. While there, they gave her an assortment of grocery items and used the opportunity to officially present her with the insignias of a senior enlisted, as she had been advanced during the RBDF’s promotional exercises in June 2020. A member of the RBDF’s Military Police and Force Protection Unit under the command of Commander Natasha Miller, Rolle is a 19-year veteran of the force.
Rolle was grateful for the kind gestures, as she expressed thanks and appreciation to those who supported her during her time of need. Her brother, Petty Officer Stephen Rolle, was also in attendance.
The RBDF said that as it continues to guard and protect the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the morale and welfare needs of the organization and its veterans are important to the daily running of the ship.
