NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A man was killed and two off-duty marines injured after their boat ran aground in waters off Andros on Monday, police reported.
According to authorities, the accident took place around 8pm.
Police said they were notified of the incident shortly after midnight.
The men were thrown overboard after their 16-foot vessel hit a reef off Moxey Town, Andros.
The boat was badly damaged.
The victim, a resident of Andros, was found unresponsive near the damaged vessel, according to the defense force.
Fishermen rescued the marines and transported them to the clinic in Mangrove Cay, authorities said.
One of the marines was alert while the other was unconscious.
The men were airlifted to New Providence for medical attention.
Police said their investigation was ongoing.
