NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Freedom Farm Baseball League founder and local baseball pioneer Greg Burrows Sr. was named as the acting Babe Ruth Baseball commissioner for the Caribbean region yesterday.
He will be charged with the development of the sport in The Bahamas, St. Kitts and Nevis, Curacao, the US Virgin Islands, Mexico, Bermuda, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
“I am excited to be a part of developing baseball in a larger area,” Burrows said. “I am very familiar with the organization having being a part of the Babe Ruth organization for many years. I have a good relationship with the folks. I am very comfortable with them. I like their development programs and the efforts that are put behind the program and the development of baseball in the United States and now we seek to strengthen the Caribbean region. I am confident with it.”
Burrows is the first Bahamian to be appointed to this position.
