Airport vaccinations after measles exposure at LPIA

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Health will be providing measles vaccinations at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) after a recent exposure to the highly infectious disease.

Health officials will be stationed at all terminals for the next week, with daily opportunities for vaccinations between 10am and 6pm, according to an advisory from the Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD).

“NAD has been directed by the Ministry of Health to advise the Airport Community of a recent exposure to measles here at LPIA,” the advisory read.

“As a result of this and the highly infectious nature of the disease, which is transmitted by airborne particles, the Ministry of Health will be providing opportunities for vaccination at LPIA, from 6-12 December at 10am – 6am daily.

Designated locations include: Terminal A – Near Omni Financial; Terminal B – Surveillance Unit Nurses Station (for Immigration, Customs, Tourism, and Airport Authority workers only); and Terminal C – Nurses Station.
