There have been 12 murders in the last 11 days
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Four people were shot and killed in New Providence in less than 24 hours, including a double murder on Gladstone Road this morning, according to authorities.
In the first incident, police officers went to an apartment complex on Gladstone Road around 4 a.m. where they found a man and woman unresponsive with injuries.
Emergency services personnel attempted to revive the victims, but were unsuccessful, police said.
When Eyewitness News arrived on the scene this morning there remained a trail of blooding leading from the front door of the apartment complex, down the hall into a small efficiency, where a blood-soaked mattress was strewn on the ground.
According to a neighboring resident, the male victim, whose identity has not been released, lived there.
Authorities had not arrested a suspect in connection with the incident as of this afternoon.
In the second incident around 8 p.m. Monday, police said a silver vehicle pulled up alongside a group of men standing outside a residence on Ambrister Street, Fox Hill, and the occupants opened fire.
Three men were shot, though two sustained non-life threatening injuries.
One of the men died on scene.
Police also reported that a security officer was shot and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Johnson Road, off Eastern Road, around 7 a.m. Monday
Two armed men got out of a Japanese vehicle and opened fire on the victim, according to Chief Superintendent Solomon Cash.
Eyewitness News understands the victim is Jermaine Edwards, 45, a security guard at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
There have also been 12 murders in 11 days.
Around 7 p.m. Sunday, a man was shot in drive-by shooting while standing in front of a residence on First Street, Coconut Grove.
He died in hospital.
According to authorities, the occupants of a white vehicle, which Cash said was also a Japanese model, opened fire on the victim around 7 p.m. He was unable to say whether the incidents where connected.
