Foreign nationals charged with illegal landing, overstaying

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Six foreign nationals were charged in a magistrate’s court last Thursday, March 14, 2019, on charges of illegal landing or overstaying.

According to a statement issued from the Department of Immigration, the foreign nationals comprised of five Haitians and one Jamaican, who were arraigned before magistrate Carolina Evans in magistrate court number six.

Benson St. Surin, Jhon Paul, Jean Joseph, Louis Anel and Elvie Joseph were convicted of illegal landing and sentenced to serve one month at Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Garshea Marie Martin was convicted of overstaying and was fined $2000.00 or in default of payment, she would serve two months at Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
