Police report drug busts in GB

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two separate drug discoveries on Grand Bahama carried out by officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) over the weekend uncovered over $20, 000 worth of suspected marijuana, authorities confirmed.

The successful drug busts were executed shortly before 6p.m. on Saturday, according to police.

Police reports indicate that DEU officers, while in the area of East Atlantic drive, conducted a search of a vehicle which uncovered 10 pounds of marijuana.

Authorities confirm that a 33-year-old male of Freeport, Grand Bahama was taken into custody in connection with that find.

The suspected marijuana has an estimated street value of $10,000, police said.

Shortly after that find and subsequent arrest, police received a tip which led them to the Gough Lane area.

Upon arrival at that address, authorities said they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana in an abandoned building.

The suspected drugs weighed in at 10.5 pounds, police reports revealed.

Authorities estimate that the suspected marijuana has a street value of $10,500.

Police made no arrest in the second drug find.

Authorities confirm that investigations into both drug finds are underway.
