Employees of the Our Lucaya resort met with Chairman of The Bahamas Hotel Corporation Michael Scott to discuss the way forward in regard to their employment on Wednesday.

The talks come after a letter was sent to employees from the Hutchinson Group Tuesday informing them that they would now be under contract with the government who is now the new owner of the hotel.

Union President, Michelle Dorsett told Eyewitness News that nearly half of the employees have decided to separate from the hotel as the transition takes place – entitling them to severance packages.

It is unclear if the government of the former owners will be responsible for the payout.
