NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Gunshots rang out in what police described as a quiet community this afternoon, claiming the life of a male in his early 20s.
It’s the country’s fourth homicide for the week, and 94th overall for the year.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Earl Thompson told the media on the scene that police officials at the Carmichael Road police station responded to reports of gunshots in the Sunset Park area.
Police have confirmed that two males armed with high-powered weapons emerged from nearby bushes and opened fire on the victim, as he sat in his vehicle, shortly after he had arrived at his residence on Vanria Avenue.
Officers arrived onto Vanria Avenue and found a male in a silver cube suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the male lifeless on the scene.
