SIGNIFICANT STRIDES: Police chief provides update on investigation into corruption allegations against senior officer

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander briefed reporters on Monday, announcing that the Security Intelligence Branch of The Royal Bahamas Police Force has exchanged documents related to alleged voice notes involving Chief Superintendent of Police Michael Johnson, deceased alleged gang leader Michael Fox Jr., and a prominent attorney. Progress is being made in the investigation.

A specialized team from the Security Intelligence Branch is leading the inquiry, with ongoing communication confirmed between the team and an independent investigation body tasked with analyzing the voice messages.

When pressed for a timeline on the investigation and whether the previously mentioned independent body from the United States would be involved, Fernander could not provide specifics. He emphasized that if the involvement of U.S. authorities becomes necessary, it will be pursued accordingly.
