NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman Fred Mitchell says, although rumors suggest that there is a rift within the party, “The PLP is not divided and is a united party.”
His assertion followed upset within the party on Friday night after Kingsley Smith’s defeat of former political Shane Gibson for the PLP ticket to run in West End & Bimini in the upcoming Bye-election.
Some Gibson supporters not only expressed their displeasure with the pick but also said that the party’s leader, Prime Minister Philip Davis, and Mitchell “got to go!”
Mitchell says the PLP remains United and throws its full support behind Smith.
