CBL gives back for back-to-school

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS — Commonwealth Brewery Limited (CBL) is wrapping up the back-to-school season by supporting several initiatives in conjunction with multiple community organizations.

According to a press release from CBL, the group was able to donate needed school supplies, food, and products through collaborations with groups including the Kiwanis Club of Freeport, Families of All Murder Victims (FOAM), Kiwanis Club of Lucaya, Rotary of South Ocean Gambier giveaways.

“Our Annual Back to School Health & Dental Fair was a huge success,” said President of Kiwanis Club of Freeport Linda Rahming.

“This partnership with us ensured that children on Grand Bahama received free health, medical & dental screening, backpacks, hygiene products, and other giveaways at the fair.”

Nothing that “uncharted inflation on food and everyday needs” continues to impact families, CBL emphasized the social impact of their efforts.

Director of FOAM Khandi Gibson said: “Many single mothers are still battling the stress of unemployment and are challenged with providing their children with uniforms, breakfast or lunch.”

“They often don’t have sufficient time to make breakfast or pack lunch for the kids while preparing for the workday. FOAM’s partnership with CBL to host a snack giveaway on the first day of school goes a long way for a child in need,” Gibson added.

In addition to providing public support, CBL hosted a Back-to-School Safari under the theme ‘I can’ for employees and their children on August 28.

After two years of limited in-person events due to Covid-19, CBL the event made a full-scale return with event activities including face painting, bouncing castles, and over 280 employee vouchers for school supplies.

Family Island employees also received a stipend to assist with back-to-school expenses.
