6 arraigned for possession of 40 lbs. of cocaine

Six Haitian nationals were brought before a judge yesterday to face numerous drug charges.

The group stood before Magistrate Subusola Swain after being arrested for being in possession of 40 lbs. of cocaine while on a boat coming into Inagua.

Clodius Michel, 30; Monique Tilme, 48; Ronel Guillaume, 39; Georges Decimus, 50; Solange Pierre, 57, and a 17-year-old female were all charged.

Prosecutors told the court that the suspects were coming off a boat, when they were found in possession of the dangerous drugs.

They were all charged with possession of dangerous drugs, the importation of dangerous drugs and possession with the intent to supply.

Only one of the suspects – Michel – pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison.

The other five pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections (BDOC) until June 19.
